苏马利的发展

就在赛斯口述《个人实相的本质》之前,我发现自己开始了一项新的冒险,我称之为“苏马利的发展”。苏马利指的是一个共享某些整体特征的意识家族”。我和这个意识家族的交流涉及了一种特殊的语言,它不是我们一般认为的语言。我想它的作用就像一种心理和心灵的架构,将我从正常的语言参照中解放出来,让我表达、交流隐藏在正式词汇模式下的内心感受和资讯。


这种苏马利的发展不断扩大,牵涉到了各种意识状态的改变。在一种意识状态中,我可以写苏马利的诗;在另一种状态中,我可以把所写的苏马利诗翻译出来;在另一个不同的层面,我还可以唱苏马利的歌,而且表现出远超过我平常秉赋或背景的音乐素养。这些歌也可以被翻译出来,但它们在本质上表达的是“情”,歌词本身是否能为人听懂倒在其次。我先生也能写苏马利语言的东西,但是却翻译不出来,非得靠我来为他翻译不可。

各种意识的焦点都有自己的“语言”


鲁柏一直潜心于他所谓的苏马利语言。这是意识在一个不同焦点的表达。它是一种经验的天然表达,发生在你们官方意识的单线焦点之外。首先,它打破了语言的模式。然而,它是由鲁柏以前曾听过的声音与音节组成的,由混杂的罗曼语构成。对他来说,这些都是“外来”的。同时,从你们的角度看,那些声音充满了古意,带来了人类以及心灵过去的内涵。

Ruburt has been involved with what he calls the Sumari language. This is an expression of the consciousness at a different focus. It is the native expression of a kind of experience that happens just outside of your official one-line focus of consciousness. First of all, it breaks up verbal patterning. It is composed, however, of sounds and syllables Ruburt has heard before, made up of jumbled Romance languages. These are “foreign” as far as he is concerned. At the same time those sounds are, in your terms, filled with the implications of antiquity, and bring up connotations of the species’ and of the psyche’s past.



它们改变了通常对有意义声音的生理反应。你们可能没有意识到,但你们的语言实际上建构了你们对物体的视觉感知。因此,苏马利语打破了通常的模式,但也解除了经系统对任何刺激的结构性反应。不过,那些声音虽然是自发的,却不是无条理的。它们会呈现出与所感知的情绪或物体相对应的声音——一种非常直接而接近的对等物,与物体或情感具有合理的对应关系。

They alter the usual physical response to meaningful sound. You may not realize it, but your language actually structures your visual perception of objects. Sumari breaks down the usual patterning, therefore, but it also releases the nervous system from its structured response to any particular stimulus. The sounds, however, while spontaneous, are not unstructured. They will present a sound equivalent of the emotion or object perceived, an equivalent that is very direct and immediate, and that bears legitimate correspondence with the object or emotion.



这种崭新的表达在所谓的感知者与被感知者之间建立了一种新的关系。于是,苏马利语变成了两种不同意识之间的桥梁;而当鲁柏回到他平常的状态时,可以把苏马利语转译成英语。不过,那英语本身随之变得充满了激情,因新的概念而变得新颖起来,且自带一种奇怪的感觉,这感觉本身改变了单词之间的关系。

The fresh expression sets up a new kind of relationship between the socalled perceiver and the perceived. The Sumari then becomes a bridge between two different kinds of consciousness; and returning to his usual state, Ruburt can translate from the Sumari to English. The English itself, however, then becomes charged, freshened with new concepts, carrying within a strangeness that itself alters the relationship of the words.

This is a dream or trance language. It is as native to its level of consciousness as English is to your own — or Indian, or Chinese, or whatever. The various focuses of consciousness will have their own “languages.” Ruburt has discovered that beneath the Sumari there are deeper meanings. He has become aware of what he calls long and short sounds. Some come so quickly that he cannot keep track, or speak them quickly enough. Others are so slow that he feels a sentence would take a week to utter. These are the signatures of different focuses of consciousness as they are transposed in your space-time system.



语言通常借由在言辞和思想上组织经验来表达某种实相。话说回来,在你们的例子里,出现了某种神经性的偏见。比如说,如果你们体验到更多的出体意识的例子,那么你们对空间与时间的语言表达就会自动改变。如果你们觉察到更多的做梦经验,你们的语言就会自动扩展。同样地,你们会自动觉察到其他的神经模式,而不是你们在使用的那些。这些神经模式一旦激活,就会被你们的科学仪器识别出来,因而改变你们在这类领域里的观念。

Languages express certain kinds of reality, usually by organizing experience verbally and mentally. In your case, again, a certain neurological prejudice occurs. If you experienced greater instances of out-of body consciousness, for example, then your verbal expressions of space and time would automatically change. If you became aware of more of your dreaming experience, your language would automatically expand. Again automatically, you would also become aware of other neurological patterns than those you use. These, activated, would then be picked up by your scientific instruments, and therefore change your ideas in such fields.



许多人在独处时,发现自己唱着“乱语”,并试着把自己从语言结构中解放出来。儿童们常常通过构建自己的语言来玩耍;而讲舌语(语言含混)是个很好的例子,它试图去表达的实相逃脱了过度结构化词语的专制。

Many people find themselves singing “gibberish” when they are alone, and trying to free themselves from language structuring. Children often play by constructing their own languages; and speaking with tongues (glossolalia) is a beautiful example of the attempt to express a reality that escapes the tyranny of overly structured words.



音乐是一种语言,绘画是一种语言。感官有自己的语言——一种渗透到结构化词语中,但很模糊的语言。

Music is a language. Painting is a language. The senses have a language of their own — one that seeps into structured words but dimly.

Other focuses of consciousness besides your own have different concepts of time, and are actually more biologically correct, in that they have greater knowledge of both cellular and spiritual realities. There is nothing “wrong” with your present habitual kind of consciousness, any more than there is anything wrong with speaking only one language. There is within you, however, the impetus to explore, to expand, to create, and that will automatically lead you to explore inner lands of consciousness; as, in your terms, it has led you to explore the other countries of the physical world.

赛斯对苏马利语的诠释


在你(指鲁柏)与我的合作中,会提供林林总总的教学方法,会用到台阶和桥梁。问一座桥是否是真的,并没有意义。它存在。它会带你到某个地方。桥是一个有效的实相,不论它的建筑风格、建造材料、颜色或写在上面的符号类型是什么。苏马利语是一座桥梁,照这样说它是有效的。它会引领你运用内在感官,而不受限于已然载满内涵的口头和熟悉的语言。

In your work with me, various kinds of teaching methods will be provided. Steps and bridges will be used. It is senseless to ask whether or not a bridge is true. It exists. It gets you somewhere. A bridge is a valid reality, regardless of its architecture or the type of symbols that may be written upon it, or its color, or the material from which it is made. The Sumari language is a bridge and valid in those terms. It will lead you into the use of the inner senses, away from the confining nature of pet phrases and familiar language that is already loaded with its own connotations.



那么,不妨说,苏马利语是一座桥梁、一种沟通方法。它是一种没有逻辑结构的初级运载工具,有望载你进入感知的内在核心。我希望它最终将让你更充分地体验在肉体感知与物质转译之下的内在认知。一座桥梁既能迎来又能送往,也能朝两个方向运送货物。那样说来,苏马利语将作为一种方法,带你进一步深入内在认知的本质,然后容许你再回来,将你所学的重新翻译成刻板的语言模式,但这种转译不是自动的。因此,这种语言将有效地阻止内在经验自动转译成模式化观念。

The Sumari language is a bridge, then, in those terms: a method of communication. It is the beginning of a logically unstructured vehicle that will carry you, hopefully, into the inner heart of perception. I hope that eventually it will allow you to experience more fully the inner cognizance that is beneath physical perception and physical translation. A bridge serves both coming and going, and carries goods in both directions. The Sumari language in those terms will be used as a method of carrying you further into the nature of inner cognizance, and then allowing you to return again, retranslating what you have learned, but not automatically, into stereotyped verbal patterns. The language will effectively block the automatic translation of inner experience into stereotypes, therefore.



在这种语言中使用的声音有自己的重要性,并以自己的方式代表或暗示多半为无意识的感受。不过,那些感受是内在认知的尾端,而我们将用声音带领我们深入内在的风景,在那里,物体及其代表最终定会弃我们而去。换言之,我们仍将使用语言,以便最后能够停止使用它。这多少将是修通内在感官的更深奥方法的开始。

The sounds used in the language have their own importance and will be in their own way representative or suggestive of feelings that have been largely unconscious. The feelings, however, are the tail end of inner cognizance, and we will use the sounds to carry us further into inner landscapes where both objects and their representatives must finally desert us. We will be using the language so that we can finally cease using it, in other words. These will be the beginnings of somewhat more profound methods of working through the inner senses.



那些声音本身激活了平常没有以任何有意识方式用到的那部分大脑。它是一种自律的语言,因为其自发性比你们认可的任何秩序都要有序得多。

The sounds themselves activate portions of the brain not usually used in any conscious manner. It is a disciplined language in that spontaneity has a far greater order than any order you recognize.



按照你们的说法,苏马利语并非一种语言,因为它没有被你们历史上的任何人群说过。以十分不同的说法,它又是所有语言的基础,所有语言的源泉。

In your terms, the Sumari language is not a language, since it was not spoken verbally by any group of people in your history. In quite different terms, it is a language that is at the base of all languages, and from which all languages spring.



苏马利语是运用在梦境里的。这种语言本身就追寻着意义。它隐藏在所有语言之中,不论它们听起来是否相似……它是由感受累积起来的,那些感受本质上无法通过特定却局限的字母体系清晰地表达。它让感知者更密切地面对经验,而这样做到某种程度之后,感知者在其他领域也自由了。

The Sumari language is used in the dream state. The language itself seeks out meanings. It is hidden within all languages, whether or not they sound at all similar...It builds up from feelings that are by their nature denied clear expression through the specific but therefore limiting alphabet systems. It allows the perceiver to face experience more closely, and having done this to some extent, he is free in other areas also.
