痛恨战争的一代并不会带来和平。

爱好和平的一代才会带来和平。

A generation that hates war will not bring peace. A generation that loves peace will bring peace.

当每个青年都拒绝上战场时，你们就会有和平。只要你们为利益和贪婪而战，就不会有和平。只要有一个人为了和平而诉诸武力，你们就会有战争。

When every young man refuses to go to war, you will have peace. As long as you fight for gain and greed, there will be no peace. As long as one person commits acts of violence for the sake of peace, you will have war.

战争的问题迟早会让你们明白——当你杀死另一个人时，从根本上来讲，你最终是在杀死你自己。

The problem of war will sooner or later teach you that when you kill another man, basically you will end up killing yourself.

战争永远会把人类变得比本可成为的更差。

War always makes you less as a species than you could be.

为了和平而杀人，只会使你们成为更好的杀手，什么都改变不了这个事实。 

To kill for the sake of peace only makes you better killers, and nothing will change that. 

如果你是一个脚踏实地的理想主义者，就会明白你不能以和平的名义杀人，因为如果那样做，你的手段就会自动破坏你的理想……目的不能使手段合理化。

You will understand, if you are a practicing idealist, that you cannot kill in the name of peace, for if you do so your methods will automatically undermine your ideal…The end does not justify the means. 

你们创造了你们的世界。当你们让和平的观念充满了你们的世界，和平就会扩展。当你们有侵略性的想法，你们就会吸引侵略，并在日常交往中引发他人或他国的侵略。

You make your world. When you populate your world with ideas of peace, then peace will grow. When you think thoughts of aggression, you attract aggression and you draw it out from others in daily contact, and on the part of nations.

记住，不要以暴力捍卫任何理念……暴力永远没有任何正当的理由。仇恨没有正当的理由。杀人没有正当的理由。

Remember, you do not defend any idea with violence…There is never any justification for violence. There is no justification for hatred. There is no justification for murder. 

只要你相信必须以暴制暴，你就是在招引暴力及其后果。对个人而言，你自己的身心变成了战场，对群体而言，大地变成了战场。

As long as you believe that violence must be met with violence you court it and its consequences. On individual terms, your own body and mind become die battleground, as does the physical body of the earth in mass terms.

在你们的实相领域里，除了思想的自由，没有真正的自由；除了思想的束缚，没有真正的束缚，因为你们的思想形成了个人与群体的实相。你们想从外面检视宇宙，从外面检视你们的社会。你们仍然认为内在世界不知怎地是象征性的，而外在世界才是真实的——举例说，战争是自己打起来的，或是用炸弹打起来的。在所有的时候，心理的实相才是主要实相，它形成了你们所有的事件。

In your realm of reality, there is no real freedom but the freedom of ideas, and there is no real bondage except for the bondage of ideas, for your ideas form your private and mass reality. You want to examine the universe from the outside, to examine your societies from the outside. You still think that the interior world is somehow symbolic and the exterior world is real — that wars, for example, are fought by themselves or with bombs. All of the time, the psychological reality is the primary one, that forms all of your events.

任何真正的进步都是精神上的进步。如果你要改变世界，就必须改变想法。如果你要结束战争，就必须改变你自己。那么，对战争的观念才是你必须战胜的。

Any true progress is mental progress. You must change ideas if you would change the world. If you would end war, you must change yourself. It is the idea of war, then that you must fight.
