Do not think of the mind as a purely mental entity, and of the body as a purely physical one. Instead, think of both mind and body as continuing, interweaving processes that are mental and physical at once. Your thoughts actually are quite as physical as your body is, and your body is quite as nonphysical as it seems to you your thoughts are. You are actually a vital force, existing as a part of your environment, and yet apart from your environment at the same time.

The Way Toward Health

I thrust no responsibility upon you to carry my message to the world! I have, in those terms, a responsibility that I give you—if you must start thinking in terms of responsibility—the responsibility of being yourselves to the best of your capacity; and if you fulfill that responsibility, the things within your lives will be right, and your actions and your feelings in the world will speak for themselves. For in being yourself, you bring forth the message of freedom and creativity!

Conversations With Seth, Book 2

All of you have but one responsibility, and that responsibility is to the self. Not necessarily to the self as you know it but to the whole self. It is your responsibility, you see, to develop all your abilities. It is your responsibility to materialize within your own system your own potentials.

The Early Sessions Book 7 of The Seth Material

The exploration of inner space—this is your mission. It will lead you into more exciting realms than any you can imagine. It will literally reshape and remake your world. If you see but one item within your universe and it disgusts you, then look within yourself, for you have helped create it. You can change it in physical terms if you will. But no real change will be effected, for it will spring up again in new form. Any true progress is mental progress.

The Early Sessions Book 7 of The Seth Material

The life came from All That Is, from the spirit of life itself, and was freely given — to be taken away by no one, or threatened by no one or no force, until that life fulfills its own purposes and decides to travel on.

Nature of the Psyche

All That Is represents the reality from which all of us spring. All That Is, by its nature, transcends all dimensions of activity, consciousness, or reality, while being a part of each.

Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul

Psychologists often speak of the needs of man. Here I would like to speak instead of the pleasures of man, for one of the distinguishing characteristics of value fulfillment is its pleasurable effect. It is not so much that man or nature seeks to satisfy needs, but to exuberantly, rambunctiously seek pleasure—and through following its pleasure each organism finds and satisfies its needs as well. Far more is involved in the experience of life, however, than the satisfaction of bare needs, for life is everywhere possessed with a desire toward quality—a quality that acknowledges the affirming characteristics of pleasure itself.

Dreams, Evolution and Value Fulfillment

The pleasure principle can probably be likened most to the latent appreciation of beauty that is everywhere apparent if you look for it: the ecstasy of each form of life for the wonders of its own existence, in which love's values go beyond themselves, and yet a condition in which each species or life form "realizes" that its own fulfillment adds immeasurably to the existence of all other forms.

Dreams, Evolution and Value Fulfillment

The more you enjoy life, and your daily moments, the less difficulty you will be in in any area, for your thoughts become naturally pleasant, and naturally attract good to you from Framework 2.

The Personal Sessions-Book 4 of the Deleted Seth Material

It is not virtuous to count your failings. It is far better to organize your thoughts in areas of accomplishment.

Nature of the Psyche

You can only hurt yourself. When others seem to hurt you, you use them in a way as weapons against yourself; and of course they so allow themselves to be used for their own reasons.

The Personal Sessions-Book 3 of the Deleted Seth Material

Do not blame yourselves for inadequacies. Do not disapprove of yourselves. Do not compare yourselves to what you think you should do or be.

The Personal Sessions-Book 5 of the Deleted Seth Material

The beauties that exist in your physical universe are the results of constructive and positive thought. The ugliness is a direct result of negative thought.

The Early Sessions Book 7 of The Seth Material

You cannot concentrate upon two things at once. So to the extent that you concentrate upon your pleasures, your accomplishments, and to the extent that you relate to the psychic and biological moment, you are refreshing yourselves.

The Personal Sessions-Book 4 of the Deleted Seth Material

Against all conventional knowledge, reviewing the mistakes of the past does not lead to wisdom…Against all that conventional wisdom, what I have said sounds extremely simple, simplistic, Pollyannaish, until you try to do it. To solve a problem you begin to minimize its characteristics, diminish its importance, rob it of your attention, refuse it your energy. The method is the opposite, of course, of what you are taught. That is why it seems to be so impractical.

The Personal Sessions-Book 4 of the Deleted Seth Material

There is no heaven and hell in Christian terms. However, if a personality believes strongly in the reality of hell, for some time after death he will experience the hallucination of a hell which will be of his own creation. This will last very briefly. Heaven and hell, indeed, are mere representations. They represented originally intuitive insights. But no heaven or hell exist in those terms. There is no place within the universe or within any universe or system for them.

The Early Sessions-Book 7 of The Seth Material

A state of health is not an end product—or an unchanging station in those terms. It is the ability to effectively handle energy in a constructive way for your own benefit and the benefit of others.

The Early Class Sessions Book 1

Do not label yourselves, for then you often try to live up to those labels, and they can be highly limiting.

The Personal Sessions-Book 4 of the Deleted Seth Material

In greater terms positive and negative have little meaning, for the physical experience is meant as a learning one. But if you are unhappy then the word negative has a meaning.

The Nature of Personal Reality

If you want to know what you think of yourself, then ask yourself what you think of others, and you will find your answer.

The Seth Material

Numbers of you are looking for a state of "peace" in which there is a static sort of bliss, with all questions forever answered and all problems solved. Some of you think that this will somehow be miraculously accomplished for you. If you recognized the power of your own being, you would know that it ever seeks greater realms of creativity and experience, in which new challenges are inherent — for all problems are challenges.

The Nature of Personal Reality

Identity as experience is intimate. It is a psychic reality but it exists electromagnetically. Identity, the self that you are, is made up of the selves that you were and, my dear friends, the selves that you shall be. The selves that you were still exist. The selves that you shall be already exist. The lives that you have lived, in your terms, are still being lived. There is no past, present or future.

The Early Sessions Book 7 of The Seth Material

The thought shall seed the world and the world shall seed the universe. The cowering soul is, indeed, the soul who believes himself a physical being. He is therefore at the mercy of every physical camouflage. He does not realize that he is what he is. He must live in the world he has created, and it is a miserable and cruel world.

The Early Sessions Book 7 of The Seth Material

In a fashion your own dreams operate or appear as electrons in other realities. That is, they change their form, their subjective force or direction, and become part of the working mechanics of the universe. The same applies to your own thoughts. They are not “wasted” after you have thought them, or simply discarded. They do not become extinct either, but go on to serve other functions in the universe than those with which you are presently aware.

Dreams, Evolution and Value Fulfillment

Whenever a book is translated, it is almost impossible, of course, to say the same thing in the same way. Such a book will always be expressed through those invisible national characteristics that are so intimately involved with language—and obviously, were that not so; no book could be understood by someone of a foreign language. There are bound to be distortions—but the distortions themselves are meaningful.
