LOVE

THE REMINDERS OF SETH

Once you understand the symbolic nature of physical reality, then you will no longer feel entrapped by it. You have formed the symbols, and therefore you can change them. You must learn, of course, what the various symbols mean in your own life, and how to translate their meaning. To do so, you must first of all remind yourself frequently that the physical condition is symbolic — not a permanent condition. Then you must look within yourself for the inner actuality represented by the symbol. This same process can be followed regardless of the nature of the problem, or of your challenge.

02

We will keep reminding you that exuberance and high spirits are a natural part of your heritage. We hope to allow you to recapture those feelings, if you have lost them, and to give other ways of keeping those emotions fresh and intact.

03

Remind yourself that any situation can be changed for the better. Remind yourselves constantly that the most favorable solution to a problem is at least as probable as the most unfortunate "solution." Remind yourselves also that despite all of your worrying, the spirit of life itself is continually within your experience, and forms your physical body.

04

Do remind yourself that it is far more natural and probable for any problem to be solved, and that every problem has a solution. Death is not a solution. It is an end in a very basic manner.

05

Project yourself into a satisfying future. Remind yourself that the future is indeed there if you want it, and that you can grow into that future as easily as you grew from the past into the present.

06

If you are lethargic, resolve to take the first small steps toward action, however small they might be. Remind yourself that life implies action and motion, and even the activity of the most despondent thought flows in great bursts of rhythm.

07

Gently remind yourself: "I am an excellent person, It is good and safe for me to express my own abilities, for in doing so I express the energy of the universe itself."

08

Remind yourself that for all you might have read, or heard, or deduced earlier, it is certainly not inevitable that all unfortunate situations take the darkest of tones, and that indeed the opposite is true; for if such were the case, the world and all of life would have literally been destroyed through disasters and calamities.

09

When you do not know what to do, relax and tell yourself that other portions of yourself do know; they will take over. Give yourself some rest. Remind yourself that in many ways you are a very successful  person as you are. Success does not necessarily involve great intellect or great position or great wealth; it has to do with inner integrity. Remember that.

10

In those areas of life where you are satisfied, give yourselves credit, and in those areas where you are not, remind yourselves that you are involved in a learning process; you are daring enough to accept the responsibility for your actions.

11

It is highly important that you do not concentrate your main attention in that area of experience with which you are least satisfied. This acts as a deepening of hypnotic suggestion. Just reminding yourself of your other accomplishments will by itself operate in a constructive fashion, even if nothing else is done. Such focus of attention on positive aspects automatically pulls your energy away from the problem. It also builds up your own sense of worth and power as you are reminded of adequate performance at other levels of experience.

12

When you find yourself at all in any kind of physical discomfort, quietly remind yourself that you do indeed believe you live in a safe universe — and this will remind the body, and allow it to relax.

13

Tell yourself several times a day that you can deal with whatever problems you have. Do not keep thinking of the job situation so that you are hammering yourself over the head with it constantly. Whenever you find yourself projecting failure in any sense into the future, even into tomorrow, stop yourself, remind yourself that your thoughts form reality.

14

Stop indulging in self-pity. Stop indulging in bitter and negative projections into the future. Stop seeing yourself as helpless. Stop reminding yourself of how bitter your present experience is. Stop telling yourself that you are powerless and that there is nothing you can do to change your mood. Stop luxuriating in negative thoughts and emotions. You do this by stopping now. Each time you find yourself thinking, how can I bear this; instead you say, many people have many more severe problems than I.
