The Lotus Sutra Chapter IV Willing Acceptance

The impoverished son saw his father,

Who was extremely wealthy and dignified.

He wondered if this man were a king

Or someone of equal rank.

窮子見父，豪貴尊嚴，謂是國王，若是王等。

窮子看見父親如此豪貴尊嚴，認爲他是國王或者與國王相當的人。

He became intimidated

And wondered why he had gone there.

He thought to himself:

If I stay here for long

I will be harassed and coerced into working.

驚怖自怪，何故至此。覆自念言：『我若久住，或見逼迫，強驅使作。』

他感到驚慌恐懼，責怪自己爲何來到這個地方。他接着又想，我如果長久呆在這裏，就有可能受到他們的逼迫，以強使我作活，爲難于我，
