专念佛还用受持五戒吗

Is it necessary to observe the Five Precepts while focusing on chanting Buddha’s name?

念佛还是要受持五戒的，因为光念佛还远远不够。修行是按照“戒、定、慧”三无漏学，首先是要受三皈五戒，受三皈五戒以后还要持戒，这才能谈到修行。

Chanting Buddha’s name alone is far from enough for practice, so you should observe the Five Precepts at the same time. One who practices Buddhism should observe precepts, Samadhi, and wisdom. Firstly, you should receive three refugees and five precepts, followed by observing precepts, then you are qualified to talk about practice.

如果是光念佛不持戒，就开不了智慧，“戒、定、慧”三学，因戒生定，因定发慧。“戒、定、慧”是有顺序的，戒律是基础是前提，如果不持戒，光念佛求生净土，如果杀业太重，就会给将来往生净土带来障碍。持戒是必要的，也是非常重要的。

If you just chant Buddha’s name without observing precepts, you cannot gain wisdom, because observing precepts contributes to Samadhi, and Samadhi generates wisdom. Precepts, Samadhi, and wisdom are in that order. Observing precepts is the foundation as well as prerequisite for practice. Without precepts, severe karma resulting from killing will get in your way if you just chant Buddha’s name to seek rebirth in the Pure Land. Observing precepts is necessary and important.
